Museo de la Tierra Guarani, located on the Paraguayan side of the Parana River, the Natural History Museum�´s function is to present special programs of environmental education. These activities serve the purpose of instilling awareness in the local population of accessible practices for protecting natural resources and the environment. The finds from archaeological and historical-cultural investigations that were initiated in 1975 with the objective of rescuing the archaeological remains from the area to be flooded form the main collection of the museum, which today includes approximately 13,000 biological specimens and 40,000 archaeological artefacts.
