Who will be participating in the competition? People from all over Brazil and around the world will be participating in this competition.
Will the competition be on TV? Possibly this year also, ................................................. affiliated television station, will be showing the competition.
Who will be judging the competition? Specialists from the Brazilian Fishing Association will be judging the competition. The Brazilian Navy and the Brazilian Environmental Institution will monitor the competition.
What do we need to do to participate in the competition? Fill in the form with personal details - I.D. (passport if you are from abroad). All the boats must be registered with the Brazilian Navy and must carry all the required safety equipment. All the boat must have insurance. All the boats must be registered. The pilot must have a boat-piloting license.
How do you make points? The largest number of fish.
Most total weight.
Largest fish in terms of weight.
Who will get the trophy? The prize goes to the person who makes the most points.
Special prizes: Biggest Dourado caught.
Biggest fish caught.
Largest variety of fish caught.
Oldest fisherman.
Brazilian fisherman affiliated with the most distant federation.
Foreign fisherman affiliated with the most distant club.
Youngest fisherman.
Which kind of equipment will be allowed for fishing during the competition? Rod and reel using line no more than 060 mm (equipment to measure the lines will be used) A netting hook to help get the fish inside the boat.
Bait Artificial, natural or live bait can be used during the fishing.
About the rules If the boat doesn´t show up for the competition it will be declassified. If you show up with fish under the measurements established by the organizer, you can lose points (see the chart size below). Fish that are not listed must be bigger than 18 cm. Only 3 lines each time can be in the water, more lines or hand lines cause the disqualification of the team. The boat cannot be docked on the river during the competition; it must be held only by the anchor. Totaling the points made in the two days will indicate the winner of the competition.
How many fishermen can be in each team? Men´s teams 3 persons only, 2 fishermen and the pilot (an expert who knows the Parana River)
Women´s teams 3 or 4 Persons, 3 fisherwomen and the pilot (an expert who knows the Parana River)
Where will people be allowed to fish on the Parana River? Up-stream at a place called Porto Belo and down-stream at a place called Paranamb.
How will be the competition be timed? The fishing competition will be divided into two days of competition:
First day - Saturday
07:30h - boat inspection
08:00h - official opening
09:00h - starting of the competition (lets fish)
17:00h - ending of the competition (If for any reason people are not back in time, they are disqualified from the competition)
17:15h - measuring and weighing of the fish
Second day - Sunday
08:00h - boat inspection
08:30h - starting of the competition (lets fish)
17:00h - ending of the competition (If for any reason people are not back in time, they are disqualified from the competition)
